Dr. Gaia Bernstein is the Technology, Privacy and Policy Professor of Law at Seton Hall Law School and a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution. Her work lies at the intersection of technology, human flourishing and public health, with a focus on addictive technologies, social media governance, and artificial intelligence policy. Dr. Bernstein advises policymakers and other stakeholders on technology policy and speaks internationally on the societal impacts of emerging technologies. She is the author of the award-winning book Unwired: Gaining Control over Addictive Technologies. Dr. Bernstein is currently working on her forthcoming book Technologies of Loneliness, which explores how AI and automated systems reshape human connection. She is also exploring regulatory frameworks to protect children from the harms of AI companion bots.
